Goodbye scripts and config files

Don't memorize a syntax - manage your monitoring from the web.

Install_plugin

No scripts to download and edit — it's all managed through our web interface.

Stop logging on to your servers to update monitoring scripts. Install, update, and modify plugins across all of your IT infrastructure through Scout's web interface.

Scout really shines when you have lots of servers to manage. Whenever you bring a new server online, clone the configuration from an existing template.

Plugin_directory

Monitor anything.

Scout's plugin system makes it endlessly flexible. What can you monitor? Here are some examples:

  • CPU load averages
  • Disk Usage
  • Process memory usage
  • MySQL slow query stats
  • Phusion Passenger processes
  • Ruby on Rails application stats
  • EC2 CloudFront metrics
  • Device Input/Output (IOStat)

... and many more — see our plugin directory, where more plugins are added all the time.

Build_plugin

Write your own plugins.

If you need custom monitoring functionality, it's easy to write a new plugin. Plugins are small Ruby programs that run each time the agent runs. Scout plugins tend to be very small and easy to work with.

Any plugins you create get first-class treatment within Scout. Graph your data, create triggers and alerts, and compare your custom data alongside other Scout metrics.

Github

The power of community.

All plugins in our directory are open-source, and many were created by members of our active community. This ecosystem is important — it means that there are constantly new plugins and functionality available to you as a Scout user.

Plugins are hosted in Scout's Github repository and each one is reviewed by us before inclusion in our directory.
